Who can apply?

Individuals or small groups looking to jump-start a new newsroom.

Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Based in the United States
• Lives in or is part of the community organization seeks to serve
• Have one person on your team that can use materials in English
• Have internet access and ability to participate remotely
• Does not work for any government agency
• Do not intend to do any lobbying or promotional content for politicians or political entities
• Constantly seeking to understand/adapt to information needs of your community
• Understand journalistic ethics necessary to the news business
• Open to learning and sharing resources with members of the collective
• Strong understanding of your organizations role in your community ecosystem
• Have a vision for how your newsroom will serve the community and what impacts that vision might have
• Organization has potential to make long-term impact in providing news coverage to underserved communities
• Organization is pre-launch, early stages, or in need of massive overhaul. Cannot be a legacy publication making a digital transition.
